Meeting 10/21/10

First off I want to say thank you for those that attended the fun run for the boys and girls club of Augusta. There are more volunteer opportunities with this company, if you or anyone you know is interested in this contact Amanda Jones (president). The only requirement is that the applicant must be 18 years old.

*Coming Up Events*

*Fundraising-
1.) Raffle Tickets- We will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a $300.00 ASU bookstore gift card. The raffle tickets will be given out at the next meeting on November 4, 2010. All money is due on Dec. 2, 2010. The prices will be one ticket for $2.00 or twenty tickets for $20.00. If you are planning on going on the D.C. trip there will be a mandatory ticket sell minimum of $100.00.
2.)Dunk a Professor- Either Nov. 3 or Nov. 10 between 12:15-3:00 Dr. Craig Albert will be available to dunk. This should have a very successful turn out!! We will also have a bake sale during that time. Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase.
*Sponsors- If anyone has any prospective sponsors for the upcoming year of 2011-2012 please contact Amanda Jones for the formal packet information. Keep in mind the more sponsors we have the less fundraising we have to do for the D.C. trip
*Volunteer Opportunities- ASU will be holding a canal clean up this Saturday from 8am-12noon.

1. Our club will also be doing operation Christmas child. In this you will need to provide nonperishable items, these items will be put in a shoe box and labeled according the sex and age. These boxes will be distributed all over the country so please use common since when purchasing items. Ex- No chocolate candy!!! Also included with the box you will need to provide $7.00 for shipping expenses.

*Social Event- Our next social event has changed. We will not be doing the paintball day as previously said, we can hopefully save that for another time. Our next social event will be on Oct. 30. We are planning on visiting a Fright Fest (haunted house) on Belair Rd. in Evans. After the haunted house we will go out to dinner at Somewhere in Augusta. You will receive in e-mail with further information pertaining to the time.
*Meet and Greet- there will be a meet and great held on Oct. 28 from 2:30-5:00pm in the political science department. This is a mandatory event for all club members!!! During this meeting the professors from the department will be there to answer any questions you may have and they will also provide sample syllabi's for their courses.
